Andhra Pradesh stretches along India’s southeastern coast, bordered by Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Odisha, and the Bay of Bengal. The Godavari and Krishna rivers flow through fertile deltas that support extensive agriculture. The state experiences a tropical climate with hot summers and monsoon rains from June to September.
Historically part of the Mauryan, Satavahana, and Vijayanagara empires, Andhra Pradesh emerged as a linguistic state in 1956. In 2014, its northwestern region was separated to form the new state of Telangana, leading to Amaravati’s selection as the new capital and ongoing administrative transitions.
Agriculture, aquaculture, textiles, and information technology are key sectors. The state is one of India’s top producers of rice, chilies, and seafood. Industrial hubs such as Visakhapatnam support steel, shipbuilding, and IT industries, contributing significantly to the region’s GDP.
Andhra Pradesh is a center of Telugu language, dance, and cinema. Kuchipudi, a classical dance form, originated here. The state is also home to prominent pilgrimage sites such as Tirupati and historic centers like Amaravati and Lepakshi, reflecting its enduring religious and artistic traditions.
